Bookworms and the Paper Fruit Book Club Reading List

Before You Know Kindness by Chris Bohjalian
This book will be discussed at our June 21st gathering. Location TBD.

Readers Block?

Welcome to the official blog of the unofficial book club.

Have you ever had a book so great that you wanted to make your friends read but the title scared them away? Or a book that you bought and it looked great but it got put on the shelf and forgotten and you need motivation to pick it up and read it? Now is your chance.

The book club will meet approximately every 6 weeks (making extra room around holidays where you might have other obligations.) on a Sunday afternoon around 2ish. Book titles are selected in rotation and if it is your book that the book club is reading- we ask that you lead the discussion with thought provoking questions - entertaining tangents to get everyone involved. Also since we've all come from different reading backgrounds this would also be an opportune time to suggest books that are similar to the book that was just read.

The book club meetings will be hosted by the person who chose the book for that rotation and the discussions can take place at a private or public location in the metro area. Providing treats is part of the hostess role. i.e. baked goods or perhaps a themed treat depending on the book?

If you are interested in the books we are reading but are too far away to participate in the official discussion you will be more than welcome to share your insights about the books on the blog discussion here.

This is meant to be fun, a way to get out of the house, make you, make time to read and read things that you might otherwise not read. Plus meet friends of friends and make new friends.

All genres are open but we request that they allow for some discussion - so Harlequin might not be the best choice. We will also make room for a veto list here. This might turn into a to read list for some - but everyone has a book that they couldn't make it past page 12 for whatever reason.

Meetings will be held Sundays at 2pm
